Scrap stainless steel recycled for profit in Los Angeles

Recycling scrap metal can be a profitable enterprise. Just ask us! We wouldn’t be in the scrap metal business and for so many years if it weren’t a lucrative undertaking. We here at TM Scrap Metals have been doing this for a long time and have become one of (if not THE) best scrap metal yards in Los Angeles. There are several components to how the scrap metal recycling process works and we are just one cog in that wheel.

Scrappers Recycling for Cash

Scrap metal businesses like ours exist to serve our local community. For us, that’s Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. Scrappers (those of you in our surrounding areas that collect scrap metal in order to sell it for cash) bring their metals to us creating a constant supply of metal that we can recycle and/or sell to other companies who need metal for manufacturing. As we’ve repeatedly stated in these pages, it’s much cheaper to use recycled metals than to forge them anew. That helps keep those manufacturers’ costs lower. A scrap metal dealer like us will buy and sell all types of scrap metals. We deal primarily in non-ferrous metals (without iron in them) since it makes financial sense for us. Other metal recycling businesses may deal in ferrous metals as well, such as iron and steel.

Selling scrap metal in Los Angeles for profit

The constant need for scrap metal can mean a source of income for you, the scrapper. If you have (or find) metal that you are no longer using it makes perfect sense to bring it to the scrap metal buyer to make some money.

Scrap Metal Recycling Centers

Once we pay our scrappers for their metals the process of separating one metal from another begins. Ideally metals would be separated prior to making their way to our scrap yard but if there is some copper mixed in with aluminum, it’s going to have to be separated before we sell it to a company in search of scrap metals.

Scrap metal recycling may seem like a small, insignificant business but it’s not. It’s a multi-billion dollar industry. Just think about how many soft drink cans there are in your city, let alone the United States or the world. Millions upon millions of cans are created each day and that process gets repeated day after day, year after year. The metal for each of those aluminum cans has to come from somewhere. Do you think it’s easier to dig up aluminum from the ground and process it or is it easier to take an old aluminum can and melt it down to use again? That’s a rhetorical question because we know you know the answer. That’s why scrap metal recycling companies like ours are needed.

Scrap Metal Pickup in Southern California

Los Angeles, the San Fernando Valley and Southern California is home to a lot of metal fabrication so Angelenos have a consistent need for metal. TM Scrap Metals works to supply that need. That’s why we strive to be L.A.’s top scrap metal recycling facility. If you have never scrapped—never sold scrap metal for profit—we urge you to bring your excess metal to us! Even if you’re in another non-L.A. city like Pasadena or El Monte, Glendale, Burbank or even Simi Valley and you’re reading this article, you don’t even necessarily have to live or work nearby our Sun Valley, CA location. Scrappers in those other areas need only pick up the phone and call us to take advantage of our mobile recycling. That’s right, we come to you!

TM Scrap Metals has served the metal recycling needs of Los Angeles for over a decade. Whether it’s scrap brass, stainless steel, bright, shiny copper wires or aluminum cans, make plans to bring it to us (or call us for scrap metal pickup) an profit from your scrap metal! 818-771-0510.

China Uses Less, Uses Different System

Stainless steel scrap is an item we regularly see in our Los Angeles metal recycling yard. As we detailed in earlier metal recycling posts one of the values stainless steel is that other metals such as nickel can be gotten from it during the recycling process. Here in the United States, stainless steel production relies on as much as 80% recycled material. Other countries such as India also have high percentage of recycled stainless steel in their production. According to Recycling Today, however, China has a different system and uses much less recycled stainless steel.

Stainless steel scrap use may be much less in electric cars

That means that the market for scrap stainless steel in China is going to be much less than countries such as the United States. As Recycling Today states in their article, China is very dependent on nickel pig iron in their stainless production and as a result uses only about 25% of scrap stainless steel as feedstock.

Scrap Stainless Steel Prices May Drop With Electrics

Another interesting fact regarding the future of stainless steel prices comes from the fact that there is a big, global push for all electric cars. Compared to internal combustion vehicles, electric cars will not use as much stainless steel and them since the majority of these metals are found in the exhaust system of internal combustion vehicles.

We will have to keep an eye on the stainless steel scrap market in the future, however for now, in the United States, and certainly in Los Angeles area, stainless steel scrap can be a profitable metal to take to the scrap metal dealer. For more in-depth information about this, please read the recycling today article and its entirety. If, however, you simply want the best price for your scrap stainless steel and want to bring it to the nearby recycling center, bring it to TM Scrap Metals on Tuxford Street in Sun Valley, just across the border from Burbank. 818-771-0510.

Burbank Scrap Metal Yard Pays Cash for Scrap

Scrap metal prices are always on the mind of our local scrappers. We get scrap from all over the San Fernando Valley and with our mobile recycling option we can come to any location around Los Angeles. But Burbank scrap metal recyclers know about us since we’re so close. Glenoaks Blvd. runs through all of Burbank and Glendale but to the north of those cities, Glenoaks runs right through Sun Valley. In fact we’re Burbank’s immediate neighbor so a short drive up that thoroughfare will take you right to Tuxford St. and our location.

Burbank scrap metal recycling

Being so close to Burbank and the fact that Burbank is rather bereft of metal recycling facilities, most folks end up bringing their Burbank scrap metal to us. Indeed, do a Google search for “Burbank scrap metal recycling” and you won’t find a location in that city. No worries, it’s only a few minutes’ drive north to get to us.

Because we’re neighbors, Burbankians tend to look us up for scrap metal pricing and honestly ours are the best scrap metal prices in Los Angeles. Certainly in our portion of L.A. and you’d be hard pressed to find better metal prices anywhere in the Burbank area.

Directions From Burbank

If you’re coming to TM Scrap Metals from Glendale or Burbank and want to take surface streets, it’s simple. Take Glenoaks Blvd. north to Tuxford. Make a left turn and find us at 11092 Tuxford St, Sun Valley, CA 91352. Coming from the north and cities like Sylmar or Arleta? Take Glenoaks south and turn right on Tuxford.

If you’re coming from further away or from cities in the western San Fernando Valley take the 118 or 101 freeways east and then to the I-5 north or south (depending on where you are relative to Sun Valley) and take the Tuxford St. offramp.

Despite no metal recycling yards in Burbank, that city—with a steady influx of film and tv production and post production businesses—generates a lot of excess building material including a significant amount of scrap metal. That metal needs a home and there’s no sense in leaving scrap lying around when recycling it is a painless way to earn cash. That’s why Burbank scrappers come to us. If you’re a Burbank, CA home or business owner and find yourself with a lot of scrap metal (aluminum, steel, copper, brass or other metals) the call you need to make is to TM Scrap Metals. We’re Burbank close, but remember we can come to you so no matter where you are, TM Scrap Metals can be there too! Call us today! 818-771-0510.

Los Angeles Recycling Center Pays Cash for Scrap

“Stainless steel scrap prices” is a popular search on Google. A few thousand people search for this term each month. It’s not hard to determine why. Although a common metal stainless steel is important invaluable because it’s made up other metals that in and of themselves are valuable. Think about nickel for molybdenum. Yesterday we wrote a brass scrap prices because the mental fetches a good price per pound but stainless steel is also a good metal to recycle.

Stainless steel is a good metal to recycle for scrap

Many scrappers that come through our doors are repeat customers and they have extensive experience in metal recycling. However, if you’re just getting into scrapping and you’re looking for a Burbank recycling center, probably one of the first things you’ll do is look up the price of stainless steel scrap. There are a number of websites available that list scrap metal prices (in indeed TM Scrap Metals has its own scrap metal pricing page) you’ll probably run into a site like scrapmonster.com which List the various metal prices and compares things like prepared versus unprepared scrap.

Taking a look at their continuously updated list you can see that unprepared stainless steel scrap goes for about $.22 per pound where is prepared stainless steel scrap fetches about $.45 per pound. There’s a difference on the order of 50% between prepared and unprepared stainless steel and the question arises, are you as the seller of scrap metal, willing to do what it takes to prepare the metal you want to recycle?

It’s the same principle that we touched on when talking about wire recycling. TM Scrap Metals, as a scrap metal dealer, is equipped to strip insulated copper wire, whereas most people you don’t have the equipment, the time or both and would simply prefer to bring in the unprepared scrap metal–for example insulated copper wire–and leave the wire recycling to us. The same question remains when you’re talking about stainless steel scrap. Do you have the time or the desire to prep it?

At our scrap metal yard there are a number methods you can choose from when selling your scrap metal to us. They range from the easiest–absolutely hands off, we take care of everything–to the more labor intensive do-it-yourself options. The choice is up to you. No matter what, our recycling center will still pay top prices in the Los Angeles scrap metal market.

If you’ve got stainless steel scrap to sell, contact TM Scrap Metals the number one name in Los Angeles scrap metal recycling. 818-771-0510.

Not every inch of the material going to be used in the construction process which means that there is probably going to be some leftover metal that can be sold for scrap. Some of these metals are relatively high paying. Below is a list of the top seven metals you can sell as scrap. Keep in mind that nonferrous metals aluminum, brass copper are going to pay more than ferrous metals. Ferrous metals are those metals that contain iron.

Most valuable scrap metals in Los Angeles

Copper

Scrap copper is a great metal to recycle because it pays a lot. Copper is in high demand and you can find it in many places around the house. This includes things like appliances–including the wires to those appliances–as well as old copper pipes. If you’re doing some plumbing there’s a good chance that you have some leftover copper that can be recycled for scrap

Brass

On the heels of copper is brass. This is another high-paying scrap metal that is found in a lot of household items. Brass is found in things like door handles or trophies or electrical components. You may not realize how much brass you have lying around your house but it’s used for a lot of things which is why it’s a valuable metal. And it’s easier to recycle then it is to create brass from scratch.

Silver

Silver is another metal makes a lot of sense to recycle. In some cases a scrap metal dealer can pay you more for your silver then what you might get elsewhere. You probably know that you have a lot of old silver on hand and things like silverware–of course–or old jewelry and things of that nature. Taking your old excess silver to the scrap metal dealer is a way to make easy cash.

Aluminum

Aluminum is one of the most recognizable metals at the recycling center because we’re so familiar with aluminum drink cans and so many people collect fees for recycling. Aluminum, as we refer to earlier, is a nonferrous metal and can fetch more than those metals which contain iron. Aluminum cans are not the only items made from this metal and you may have other aluminum objects around your home that can be recycled for cash at a scrap metal yard like ours. Think about bicycle frames, parts of an automobile and even computers. All these contain aluminum.

Stainless Steel

Recycling stainless steel for cash is often overlooked because so many objects today are made from stainless steel. However, the value of stainless steel often comes from the fact that is made up of other metals such as chromium or nickel. Depending on the amount of nickel in stainless steel you may get more or less cash for recycling. Still, do not overlook this common metal. Because it’s resistant to rust stainless steel can be found in a lot of kitchen tools and automobile parts.

Gold

Gold as a scrap metal doesn’t seem obvious but it can be a lucrative metal to recycle for cash. Yes, we’re all familiar with gold jewelry or coins but gold is used in a lot of electronics. If the old electronic devices you have on hand contain gold it can be a good idea to recycle these. Extracting precious metals like gold from electronics is known as harvesting. It’s not easy to extract gold from some electronic devices but gold prices are at all-time highs and you can get a higher return on this metal than other types of scrap metal.

Lead

Lead may not be the most glamorous scrap metal but I can’t prove to be lucrative at the scrap metal yard. That’s because lead is traditionally coveted by recycling centers and in high demand. It may be more difficult to transport to the scrap metal dealer given its heavy weight. Luckily, TM Scrap Metals does have a mobile recycling feature and can come to you to pick up this profitable scrap metal.
